Topaz was shot multiple times and one of her hind legs had to be amputated as a result of her injuries. Topaz gets along great on her 3 legs.
Ms. Topaz has quiet a story: A woman saved her life initially by adopting her from a public shelter. She then gave Topaz to a homeless man. Topaz became his best friend and constant companion. In August 2008, Topaz and her guardian were in the wrong place at the wrong time when another homeless man, was shot 47 times by local police. Topaz was in the fireline and her guardian was not allowed to get to her. Topaz was shot 4 times, in the shoulder and in her right hind leg. Her leg was so badly destroyed, that it had be amputated. But Topaz survived. Through hard work of many devoted people, Topaz and her guardian were able to move off the streets and into a trailer. They have lived their since but now Topaz' guardian is termanilly ill and Topaz will need a home soon. Topaz is a wonderful companion, she goes everywhere, LOVES everybody and is well behaved in the house. She rides great in the car and her favourite activity is to sunbathe and to give kisses!
